President Barzani Travels to Baghdad to Meet Iraqi Leaders

President Nechirvan Barzani met with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani in Baghdad on January 13.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the current political and security situation in Iraq as well as the latest developments in the region. They also stressed the importance of maintaining peace, stability and national sovereignty while keeping Iraq free from regional conflicts.

In addition, the meeting focused on the efforts of both the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi federal government to address various issues, including budget, salaries, oil exports and other administrative matters related to finance and economy.

Both sides agreed that these issues should be resolved in accordance with the constitution to ensure that the citizens of the Kurdistan Region are not negatively affected. The President emphasized the need for a final solution to the salaries of workers in the Kurdistan Region, regardless of other matters.

The meeting also addressed other issues of mutual interest, further strengthening dialogue and cooperation between the two parties.

The President held further meetings in Baghdad, where he had a productive discussion in January with Dr. Abdullatif Rashid, the President of Iraq.

The two leaders focused on the political and security situation in both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, as well as relations between Erbil and Baghdad. They also addressed ongoing efforts to resolve all outstanding issues, as well as recent developments in the wider region, taking into account their impact and impact.

Both sides stressed the importance of resolving the issues between Erbil and Baghdad in accordance with the constitution. In addition, they emphasized the importance of ensuring that the Kurdistan Region’s financial entitlements, budget and employee compensation are dispatched promptly. In addition, they agreed on the importance of maintaining an open dialogue between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi federal government. With regard to regional conflicts and their potential impact, it was emphasized that Iraq should not take part in such conflicts. Instead, all parties should work together to safeguard the highest interests, peace and stability of the country and avoid descending into turmoil and complexity.

President Barzani also met with Alina Romanowski, US Ambassador to Iraq; Mohammed al-Halbusi, former speaker of the Iraqi parliament; Feyad Zedan, the president of Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council; Qais al-Khazali, leader of the Ahl al-Haq militia; Faleh Fayyaz, head of the Hashd al-Shaabi Committee; Haider al-Abadi, leader of the Victory Alliance; Mohsen Mandalawi, first deputy speaker of the Iraqi parliament; Hadi al-Ameri, Secretary General of the Badr Organization; Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, leader of the Hikma movement; Adel Abdul Mahdi, former Iraqi prime minister; Humam Hammoudi, Chairman of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq; Abdul Sadeh Al-Freji, Secretary General of the Alnahj National Alliance and Musanna al-Samarai, leader of the Al-Azm Coalition.
