The Vienna City Council officially recognized the poison gas attack on the people of Halabja in 1988 as a genocide.
The motion was filed by Berivan Aslan (Green Party) and other members of the Council from the Social Democrats (SPÖ) and the liberal NEOS-Party and passed unanimously.
