An Austrian delegation comprising Envoy Gerold Vollmer, Director of the Middle East Department in the Austrian Foreign Minstry, and Dr. Oskar Wüstinger, Austrian Ambassador in Iraq and Jordan, visit the Kurdistan Region to have meetings with officials of the Kurdistan Regional Government. The delegation was accompanied to all the meetings by Dr. Mustafa Ramazan, KRG Representative in Austria.
Envoy Vollmer and Ambassador Wüstinger were welcomed by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. The Prime Minister praised the deep relations between Austria and the Kurdistan Region. The discussions focused on the current political and security situation in Iraq and the wider region and it also included a dialogue on strengthening exisisting ties in the area of trade investment.
Another important theme which was discussed during the delegation visit was that of migration and human trafficking. Envoy Vollmer and Ambassador Wüstinger had the chance to exchange opinions with KRG Interior Minister, Mr. Reber Ahmed. In the meeting, all parties agreed to enhance cooperation in order to combat illegal immigration.
Another successful meeting was held between the Austrian delegation and Minister Safeen Dizayee, Head of the KRG Department of Foreign Relations. It was an opportunity to stress the importance of mutual relations and their enhancement. Finally, Envoy Gerold Vollmer and Ambassador Oskar Wüstinger had the pleasure to discuss ongoing political issues with former President Masoud Barzani.
